Prerequisite for participation is swimming ability in deep water!
Front Crawl (Freestyle) Basics
This popular introductory course brings you closer to the element of water and introduces you to the crawl technique. You will learn from the beginning the optimal posture and gliding position in the water as the basis of all swimming styles. In many exercises we will first try out the movement of the legs and arms individually. The specific use of swimming boards, paddles and fins will help to improve your technique. You will learn the coordination of arm and leg work as well as the correct breathing technique. Also different turning techniques, from the simple freestyle turn to the roll turn as well as the start jump, are on the plan of this basic course. Prerequisite for participation is swimming ability in deep water!!! This course is also suitable to secure and deepen existing basic knowledge.
The course takes place in April at the indoor pool (Sportbad / Salü) from 17:00–18:30, and from May at the outdoor pool (Freibad Hagen) from 16:00–17:30.
The group meets 15 minutes before the start of the course in front of the ticket area.
Pool admission to both the indoor and outdoor pool is already included in the course fee.
Front Crawl (Freestyle) – Advanced
Strength, stamina and endurance are the central topics from the advanced course and for all those who already have a good basic knowledge and show a medium to strong crawl technique. After recalling all the basics such as water position, body tension, hand pressure, head control/breathing etc., you will learn how to achieve maximum effect with average effort. Parallel to individual technique corrections you will swim lanes to train your endurance. Training methods like interval training, sprinting, distance diving plus technique specials like the crawl roll turn round out the course program. Improvement of breaststroke technique, back crawl technique and if needed butterfly technique are the extended possibilities of this course. Your individual performance level will determine the rest of the course.
