Kizomba Basics
Urban Kiz is a modern partner dance that developed in Europe—particularly in Paris—during the 2010s. It's based on the traditional African dance form Kizomba, but incorporates strong influences from urban dance and music styles such as hip-hop, R&B, rap, ghetto zouk, Afrobeat, and tango.
In this course, you'll learn the fundamentals of Kizomba and Urban Kiz: leading and following, rhythm, and posture.
Discover how music and movement can be used for two-way communication. We believe it's important that the lead person doesn't just dictate the pace, but that it's an exchange and a shared experience, guided by impulses from both partners.
Whether you come with or without a partner, we start from scratch, take our time with each step, and combine fun and technique. Urban Kiz isn't just dance; it's a way to move, express yourself, and communicate with your partner.
Framework & Format:
• No partner? No problem – we rotate so everyone can learn from each other
• Pleasant atmosphere, mindful guidance, and a relaxed group structure
• We start with the basics – no prior knowledge is necessary (and if you do have some, the basics are always helpful!)
Attention: The course takes place in the mensa on the main campus (Scharnhorststraße 1, 21335 Lüneburg).
