Entstanden in den „Dance Halls“ im Jamaica der 1970er Jahre, repräsentiert Dancehall eine Musik, einen Tanz, aber auch Mode und Sinn für Gemeinschaft. TänzerInnen wurden stark von ihren afrikanischen Wurzeln beeinflusst, MusikerInnen von der Popularität von Reggae und der Sprache Patois/Patwa. Für mich trägt Dancehall eine ganz besondere Energie: sassy/frech, selbstbewusst, verspielt und mitreißend. Und das möchte ich gerne mit Euch teilen, in Form von einer kleinen Choreo, ein bisschen Musikverständnis und einer kleinen History Session!

Originating in the "dance halls" in Jamaica in the 1970s, dancehall represents a music, a dance, but also fashion and a sense of community.
